The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has condemned xenophobic attacks against African citizens in South Africa, describing the developments as unacceptable.
Speaking during a bilateral meeting with President Mahama on the sidelines of the African Union Extraordinary Health Summit in Accra, the AU Chairperson said the situation is disturbing and requires urgent attention.
Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said the African Union will take up the matter and table it for discussion at its next Heads of State and Government Summit.
The meeting forms part of ongoing discussions on continental cooperation, peace, and development among African leaders.
