Iran warns of decisive response after reported explosion in Hormozgan

Iranian state television is reporting that an explosion has been heard near the city of Sirik in Hormozgan province in southern Iran.

The development comes after Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded to threats by US President Donald Trump, who warned that the United States would target Iranian infrastructure if Tehran attacked ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on social media, Araghchi said Iran's defence doctrine is based on "an eye for an eye," warning that any aggression against the country or its infrastructure would trigger a powerful and decisive response. He also said any party supporting such attacks would be considered a legitimate target.
