Speaker Bagbin Warns MPs Over Misuse of Sirens and Police Escorts

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has cautioned Members of Parliament against the indiscriminate use of sirens and police escorts.

The caution follows a Cabinet directive stating that no person shall install or use a siren on any private or official vehicle without authorisation from the Minister for the Interior.

The directive also states that police escort services may only be used with written authorisation from either the Minister for the Interior or the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

In a communication to the House, Speaker Bagbin urged MPs to comply with the law to avoid undermining road safety and public confidence.
