‘Alive or dead?’: Gaza families await answers on missing loved ones

Thousands of Palestinian families have no idea if their loved ones are alive or dead, whether they're detained in Israeli prisons or buried under the piles of rubble across Gaza. Some people have been missing for months, others for years. Israeli restrictions on heavy machinery entering the Strip means the recovery of remains is slow. And Israeli forces rarely provide information on the Palestinians they detain. One man has returned home more than a year after he disappeared.
