ASEAN ministers meet in Manila amid Iran-US tensions, South China Sea dispute

Foreign ministers from the 11-nation ASEAN bloc are meeting in Manila amid escalating US-Iran hostilities that threaten regional oil supplies via the Strait of Hormuz, which they have urged be fully reopened. Talks come as tensions flared in the South China Sea, with the Philippines accusing China's coast guard of injuring a sailor near the disputed Second Thomas Shoal, an allegation Beijing disputes. Both sides say a code of conduct is still being negotiated. Ministers also addressed Myanmar's civil war, following renewed engagement with the military-backed government that has drawn criticism from rights groups over legitimising the junta.
