The REAL impact of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the U.S.

The World Cup numbers appear to show the event was an economic success. In New Jersey alone, officials report MetLife had eight consecutive sellouts with over 645,000 total fans, and the area generated a reported $2.1 billion in economic impact in the five group stage games alone. FIFA reports that attendance topped 6.8 million, a World Cup record averaging more than 65,000 fans a game, and the cumulative global TV audience topped 5 billion people across multiple platforms.
