Trump warns Iran it will pay many times over for deaths of US troops

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that more deaths of American soldiers will carry a heavy price, following the killing of three US service members in the region over the past few days. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, "Every time Iran kills an American soldier, they will pay for that killing many times over," adding that this directive has been passed on to Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Daniel Kane, and every leader in the military. Meanwhile, explosions have been reported in Shiraz, Iran's cultural capital, as the US and Iran continue exchanging strikes for more than a week, with more than 50 Iranians killed since the latest escalation began nine days ago. Iran has also been attacking its Gulf neighbors, targeting their military and civilian infrastructure. The US is reportedly moving forces into place and giving the President options, including continuing current operations, reimposing a blockade, expanding military operations, or even putting troops on the ground. The US military has already stopped a number of ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports. However, the US supply chain for armaments has not fully caught up, limiting the possibility of a massive assault, but significant military damage remains possible. Allies have been reluctant to join ground operations.
