MTTD Impounds 700 Vehicles in Western Region Over Illegal Sirens, Strobe Lights & Beacons
#ChannelOneNews #GhanaNews #MTTD #GhanaPoliceService #RoadSafety #Takoradi The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has impounded about 700 vehicles in the Western Region during a special enforcement exercise targeting the unauthorized use of sirens, beacon lights, and strobe lights. The operation, conducted in Takoradi and Tarkwa, also resulted in the removal of unapproved emergency lights and seven illegally installed sirens from vehicles. The exercise forms part of a nationwide crackdown on the misuse of sirens and emergency lights, in line with Regulations 65 and 74 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2180). Director of Education, Research and Training at the Police MTTD, ACP Alexander Kwaku Obeng, who led the exercise, said the operation was necessary due to the increasing disregard for road traffic laws by some motorists.
