NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on each of two counts—assigning mining licences without ministerial approval and purposefully facilitating unlawful mining. The sentences will run concurrently. He was also fined 10,000 penalty units on each count, while Akonta Mining was fined 15,000 penalty units for each offence.
