Minority Demands Release of Persons Jailed Under Criminal Offences Act Sections 207 & 208

The Minority in Parliament is calling on President John Dramani Mahama to direct the Attorney General to discharge all persons serving prison terms under Sections 207 and 208 of the Criminal Offences Act and withdraw all pending prosecutions under the provisions.
The demand follows the sentencing of content creator Camilla Alhassan, who received a one-year prison sentence with hard labour after publishing videos making false claims that President Mahama sacrificed 32 cows as part of ritual practices.
Addressing journalists in Parliament, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin criticised what he described as the criminalisation of criticism, arguing that laws should not be used to suppress free expression.
