Chongqing community worker recalls surviving deadly mountain collapse while evacuating residents

A deadly landslide in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, Chongqing Municipality, has left eight people dead and 34 others missing. Ten people had been rescued by 2 p.m. on Friday, all in stable condition, while more than 1,100 nearby residents were evacuated to safety. Moments before the collapse, community worker Peng Di spotted falling rocks and went door to door, telling residents to evacuate. Soon after, the mountainside gave way without warning, burying her beneath the debris. "I couldn't outrun it," she recalled, adding that some of her colleagues remain missing. #Chongqing #landslide
