US tariffs on Brazil spark political row ahead of presidential election
Brazil is considering its response after the United States announced new 25% tariffs on thousands of Brazilian products, with the measures due to take effect next week.
The tariffs have intensified political tensions ahead of Brazil's presidential election, with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's government accusing Washington of unfair pressure.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio blamed Lula for the trade dispute, while Brazilian officials rejected the remarks as unacceptable.
The tariffs are expected to affect nearly a fifth of Brazil's exports to the United States, although key products including coffee, beef and orange juice are exempt.
