Global debut: Chinese humanoid robot dazzles in horseback archery challenge
In the third leg of the "Energy Transfer" relay for the 2026 World Humanoid Robot Games, a humanoid robot took on a horseback archery challenge on a mechanical horse at a racecourse near Sayram Lake in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
According to Wang Kun, an engineer on the mechanical horse team, the collaborative operation of the robot and the mechanical horse opens up a wide range of applications that conventional single-robot systems cannot handle. The horse handles heavy loads and rugged mobility, while the robot focuses on high-dexterity tasks like rescue and inspection.
As a warm-up event for the World Humanoid Robot Games, the challenge was designed to demonstrate the robots' integrated capabilities across multiple scenarios. The second edition of the Games is scheduled to take place in Beijing from August 22 to 26 this year.
