Parliament has passed the Tribunals Bill, 2026 despite strong opposition from the Minority caucus, who boycotted the approval process.

The new law provides for the establishment of Regional and District Tribunals to handle specialised cases, including illegal mining, tax and customs offences, fraud, and matters involving financial loss to the state.

Government says the tribunals will help expedite the prosecution of complex economic and public interest cases while improving access to justice.

The Minority, however, opposed the process leading to the passage of the Bill.
