The Minority in Parliament is proposing the deletion of Clause 4 of the Tribunals Bill, 2026, which seeks to establish a system of Regional Tribunals and District Tribunals.

Clause 4 of the Bill provides for the creation of the tribunal system, while a subclause affirms the independence of both tribunals.

However, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin argues that introducing the tribunal structure could create confusion within Ghana's judicial system.

He described the proposed arrangement as a “chooboi system”, calling for the clause to be removed from the Bill.

The debate forms part of ongoing parliamentary discussions on reforms to Ghana's justice system and the role of tribunals in improving access to justice.
