School Feeding Caterers Told To Use ONLY Local Ingredients In Meals

The National School Feeding Secretariat has reiterated calls for caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme to use indigenous ingredients and local dishes in preparing meals for beneficiaries.
According to the Secretariat, locally produced foods are not only nutritious and healthier but also help support local farmers and strengthen Ghana's food value chain.
Speaking after chairing a training programme organised for school feeding chefs, the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Hajia Fati Forgor, urged caterers not to compromise the nutritional value of meals prepared for children.
The training focused on equipping caterers with a newly developed manual by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, with support from the World Bank, to improve meal preparation standards under the programme.
