NCA OPENS 5G Market As NGIC’s Exclusive Rights Are Removed

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has removed the condition in Next Gen InfraCo Limited's (NGIC) licence that granted the company exclusive rights to operate as Ghana's sole provider of wholesale 5G infrastructure.

The move is aimed at opening up the market to greater competition and attracting more investment into Ghana's telecommunications sector.

The amendment, which takes effect from July 15, 2026, revises NGIC's Wholesale Electronic Communications Infrastructure (Telecommunications) Licence, while leaving all other provisions intact, including the company's spectrum assignment.

The NCA says the decision forms part of efforts to promote a competitive digital ecosystem and support the growth of Ghana's 5G infrastructure.
