Unpaid health workers strike as DR Congo's Ebola outbreak accelerates

Healthcare workers battling the Democratic Republic of Congo's fastest-growing Ebola outbreak on record have staged protests over months of unpaid wages, with staff in Bunia burning debris and blocking hospital entrances. Doctors Without Borders reports confirmed cases have tripled in under five weeks, while the WHO says four in five new infections stem from unknown transmission chains. The agency has received only 40% of requested funding, even as the first clinical trial of an antiviral treatment begins.
