Tema Residents ACCUSE TDC Ghana of Defying Court Order Over Disputed Land

Residents of Tema Community One, Sites Three and Eight are appealing to the government to intervene in a dispute with TDC Ghana Limited, accusing the state-owned company of defying a court order by continuing development works on a disputed parcel of land.
The residents say a 2014 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the community and TDC Ghana Ltd provided for the preservation and construction of a community playground and other public facilities.
They allege that TDC has commenced construction on land reserved for the playground despite an injunction granted by the court to halt development pending the determination of the case.
At a press conference, Residents' Association President, Kwesi Aduamah, called on the government to ensure TDC complies with the court order and honours the MoU.
Some residents also alleged intimidation by military personnel deployed to the site.
Responding off the record, sources at TDC Ghana Limited maintained that the company has not been formally served with any court injunction and argued that the ongoing works are unrelated to the matters before the court.
