Cabinet Revokes E.I. 144 to Fully Restore Achimota Forest Reserve | News Feed

Cabinet has directed the immediate revocation of Executive Instrument (E.I.) 144, restoring the affected portions of the Achimota Forest Reserve to their original status as protected forest reserve land.

The Executive Instrument, which took effect in May 2022, removed the reserve status of approximately 361.5 acres of land, sparking public debate over the future of one of Accra's most important ecological zones.

Speaking during the Government Accountability Series, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah said government remains committed to preserving Achimota Forest as an ecological safety zone for Accra and surrounding communities.

The revocation of E.I. 144, as amended by E.I. 234, restores the affected lands to their previous legal status as part of the forest reserve.
