Nobel laureate Omar Yaghi: AI is a chemist's new language
From July 17 to 20, Shanghai will host the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, or WAIC 2026, with the theme "Intelligent Partners, Co-creating the Future." This global gathering exemplifies science without borders. With the same belief, Omar Yaghi, the 2025 Nobel laureate in chemistry, has joined Tsinghua to lead the AI Chemistry and Materials Research Institute – not just for China, but for the world. He sees AI as a universal language linking chemistry to other fields.
