NPP Chairmanship Race: Afoko Defends Northern Representation in Leadership

NPP National Chairman hopeful Paul Afoko has dismissed suggestions that it would be politically disadvantageous for both the party's national chairman and presidential candidate to come from northern Ghana.
Mr. Afoko said arguments focusing on his roots in the Upper East Region and the background of the NPP's presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, from the North East Region, are misplaced and should not influence delegates' decisions.
He argued that the NPP's identity is built on its national character and that leadership choices should be based on competence, vision and commitment rather than geographical origins.
