Sheikh Hamad’s Lebanon legacy: Rebuilding after war and brokering peace
Qatar's late Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, left a lasting imprint on Lebanon through his support for its reconstruction after the 2006 war with Israel. He financed homes, schools and roads across the south, including Bint Jbeil's historic market, and later helped broker the 2008 Doha Agreement that ended an eighteen-month political crisis. Nearly two decades on, much of what Qatar helped rebuild has been destroyed again amid renewed conflict.
Al Jazeera's Ali Hashem reports.
