Parliament Clash Over Dennis Aboagye Detention As Majority Rejects Minority Call

The Minority in Parliament is demanding that the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, appear before the House to brief lawmakers on the circumstances surrounding the arrest and detention of Dennis Miracles Aboagye by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The Minority argues that the three-day detention of the former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation amounts to a violation of his fundamental human rights.
Addressing Parliament, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin criticised EOCO's handling of the arrest, insisting that investigations involving political figures must be conducted fairly and in accordance with due process.
However, the Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, dismissed the Minority's call for the Attorney General to appear before Parliament over the matter.
The development has sparked debate in Parliament over due process, accountability, and the handling of investigations involving political figures.
