Cabinet is meeting to consider the government's position paper on the review of Ghana's 1992 Constitution as the process enters a critical stage.

The meeting, the third sitting on the agenda, is expected to conclude discussions on outstanding amendment proposals before approving the document.

The review follows the establishment of an eight-member committee in January 2025 by President John Dramani Mahama to coordinate proposals from civil society organisations and the public.

Key issues under consideration include reforms to the appointment of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), the powers of the Executive, and judicial reforms.
