A devastating dawn fire at Suame Post Office in the Ashanti Region has claimed the life of 15-year-old Alhasan Asan and destroyed a six-room residential building.

The fire broke out at about 1:00 a.m. while residents were asleep, trapping the teenager inside the burning structure. Despite desperate efforts by neighbours to rescue him, Alhasan could not escape.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded to the scene and brought the fire under control.

Residents are mourning the loss of a young boy they describe as calm, respectful, and well-behaved. Speaking to Channel One News, his aunt Nana Akua recounted the speed at which the fire spread and the difficulty residents faced in saving lives and belongings.
