Qatar is mourning the passing of Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, as international leaders and dignitaries arrive in Doha to offer condolences to Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The report looks at Sheikh Hamad's transformative leadership and his role in modernising Qatar's economy, expanding its natural gas industry, developing major infrastructure projects and strengthening the country's position on the global stage.

During his rule, Qatar became a key diplomatic mediator and gained international recognition, including hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
