US-Iran tensions escalate as strikes hit Iran and Trump announces Strait of Hormuz blockade

The United States says it has carried out a third consecutive night of strikes on Iran, targeting facilities linked to Tehran's operations around the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump says the strikes are aimed at limiting Iran's military capabilities in the strategic waterway, while announcing a new naval blockade and proposed charges on cargo vessels passing through the strait.

Iran says it will continue retaliatory actions against US targets, with reports of explosions across several locations, including areas near the Strait of Hormuz.

The United Arab Emirates has also accused Iran of striking two tankers in Omani waters, while regional leaders warn of further escalation.
