NPP Reacts to Dennis Miracles Aboagye’s Arrest, Accuses EOCO of Rights Violations

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reacted to the continued detention of Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a senior aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
EOCO says the arrest is linked to investigations into the alleged misappropriation of GH¢55 million during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation.
Speaking on the matter, NPP Director of Communications Richard Ahiagbah said the party is not against accountability but is opposed to what he described as the abuse of state security institutions to intimidate or silence individuals.
He accused authorities of detaining people for extended periods without proper explanations to them, their lawyers, or relatives. Mr. Ahiagbah also alleged that Dennis Miracles Aboagye was denied access to his lawyers, describing the situation as unlawful and improper.
The NPP says its protest was aimed at drawing government's attention to concerns over due process and the protection of individual rights.
