Zoomlion plans to transform Teshie transfer station into recycling hub

Expanding recycling operations at the Teshie Waste Transfer Station could reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill sites by as much as 80%, according to Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

The company's Teshie Transfer Station Operations Manager, Naa Ayorkor Koney, said plans are underway to introduce recycling operations at the facility following its reopening after a four-year closure.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, July 13, 2026, Madam Koney explained that recovering recyclable materials from municipal waste will help reduce pressure on Ghana's landfill sites and improve waste management in Accra.

The move forms part of broader efforts to strengthen sanitation, promote recycling, and create a more sustainable waste management system in the capital.
