Bank of Ghana targets youth with financial literacy drive to promote responsible banking

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) says improving financial literacy among young people has become essential to strengthening consumer protection and reducing financial risks as digital financial services become increasingly common.

According to the central bank, early financial education will help address misconceptions about banking products, promote responsible borrowing, and encourage young people to make informed financial decisions.

Speaking on the sidelines of a financial literacy programme for selected senior high schools in the Western Region, Godfred Cudjoe of the Bank of Ghana's Financial Stability Department explained some of the measures the regulator is implementing to help young people have safer and better banking experiences.

The initiative forms part of efforts by the Bank of Ghana to promote financial awareness and build a more financially responsible generation.
