7 Arrested After Violence Disrupts NPP Constituency Elections in Wiamoase | News Feed

Seven people have been arrested following a disturbance that disrupted the New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executive elections at Wiamoase in the Ashanti North Region.

According to the Ashanti North Regional Police Command, the suspects allegedly attacked police officers and disrupted voting at the SDA Church polling station after claiming that some supporters had been sidelined.

Police said there was no court order directing the suspension of the election. Security personnel restored calm, voting resumed under tight security, and the election was completed peacefully.

Two of the suspects, including media personality Kwame Afrifa Mensah, later received treatment at the Mampong Government Hospital and remain under police guard as investigations continue.
