The United States and Iran traded strikes throughout the weekend in another volatile flare-up of attacks, with ramifications stretching across the wider middle east. The hostilities were set off on Saturday when Iran fired at a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz and declared the key waterway closed. The U.S. military responded with a series of strikes, hitting 140 Iranian military targets on Saturday and dozens more on Sunday, according to U.S. Central Command.
