Displaced Sudanese seek refuge in drone-hit El Obeid as RSF steps up siege
More than 200,000 people displaced from across Sudan's Kordofan region have sought refuge in el-Obeid, according to the UN. Many fled a three-year Rapid Support Forces siege in South Kordofan that caused famine-like conditions, while others escaped drone and artillery strikes that killed relatives and destroyed homes. The UN warns of a measles outbreak among the displaced. With the RSF now intensifying attacks on el-Obeid itself, residents fear the city may soon lose its status as a sanctuary.
Al Jazeera's Hiba Morgan reports from el-Obeid, Sudan.
