Funeral prayers held for Qatar’s former emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in Doha
Funeral prayers have been held for Qatar's Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, at the Mohammed bin Abdul Wahab Mosque in Doha. The late Emir, who died at the age of 74, will be buried at the Lusail cemetery following the prayers. Thousands of mourners gathered to pay their final respects to the transformational leader who is widely credited with modernising Qatar and placing it on the global stage. Prayers were led with emotional farewells. The imam prayed for God's mercy and forgiveness for the late Emir and for Qatar to be granted security, faith and stability. The prayers also sought patience for Qatar's leadership, including His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Qatari people.
