The Free Republic of Liberland wants to be a truly libertarian, digital micronation that runs on the same technology as cryptocurrencies.
The unrecognised micronation is bankrolled by some of the wealthiest men in crypto and it runs on an idea they are trying to export - that government itself can be replaced with blockchain technologies.
Citizens vote on laws and referendums using digital tokens, and the voting itself is automatically tallied and enforced by code, rather than counted by officials.
However, the technology is still in an early phase, and human officials are still required to implement laws.
