Authorities are calling for the dredging of rivers and lagoons as part of long-term measures to address Ghana's recurring flooding challenges.

The call comes during the ongoing National Clean-Up Exercise, where communities, institutions, and security agencies are clearing waste, desilting drains, and restoring flood-affected areas.

Officials say while sanitation efforts are critical, removing accumulated silt and improving the capacity of major waterways will be necessary to reduce flooding risks and protect vulnerable communities.
