FLOOD RECOVERY: Ayawaso West MCE Announces Extended Drain Cleaning Exercise

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso West, Dr. Michael Mensah, has announced that the municipality will sustain its flood cleanup exercise beyond the government-declared national cleaning days.

Speaking to the media during the exercise, Dr. Mensah said teams will continue desilting drains, clearing flood debris, and removing waste after July 11 as part of efforts to reduce the risk of future flooding.

He noted that significant progress has been made across the municipality, with refuse and sediments being cleared from affected areas following the recent floods.

The MCE also warned that persons who violate sanitation laws will face enforcement action, stressing that maintaining a clean environment requires the collective effort of residents and authorities.

The national general cleaning days of July 10 and 11 were declared in seven flood-affected regions following recommendations from the Post-Flood Mitigation Committee.
