Some traders in Kumasi have welcomed the ongoing national sanitation exercise, describing it as an important step towards improving hygiene and reducing flooding risks.

The traders, however, want the exercise to be sustained beyond the one or two days, arguing that regular clean-up activities will have a greater impact in keeping drains clear and communities safer.

They also urged residents to comply with sanitation regulations and take personal responsibility for maintaining clean surroundings to promote a healthier environment.

The call comes amid renewed efforts by authorities to address sanitation challenges following recent flooding incidents across parts of the country.
