Government has dismissed concerns that the National General Cleaning Exercise could become a short-lived initiative, assuring Ghanaians that the programme will be sustained beyond the two-day exercise.

Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, gave the assurance during the cleanup exercise at the frontage of the Jubilee House on the first day of the nationwide sanitation campaign.

She said the initiative reflects government's long-term commitment to improving sanitation and urged citizens to actively participate in keeping their communities clean.

According to Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, the exercise is “not a nine-day wonder”, but part of efforts to preserve Ghana's environment through sustained public participation.

She also appealed for more cleaning tools and protective equipment to support the exercise across the country.
