The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has raised concerns over a growing public health threat following recent floods, citing an increase in diarrhoeal cases in affected communities.

Speaking to Channel One News during the presentation of relief items to flood victims at the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the President of the Association, Professor Ernest Yorke, stressed the need to prioritise public health interventions in addressing Ghana's recurring flooding challenges.

He called for stronger preventive measures, including improved sanitation, clean water access, and coordinated responses to reduce the health risks associated with flooding.

The GMA says managing the impact of floods must go beyond immediate relief efforts and include long-term strategies to protect public health.
