For years, allegations of corruption at axle load control stations have raised concerns about efforts to protect Ghana's roads, with some stations accused of allowing overloaded trucks to bypass enforcement measures.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, says government is moving to address the challenge through technology-driven systems at axle load stations.

According to the Minister, the new approach will help reduce human interference, curb illegal practices, strengthen enforcement, and protect road infrastructure from damage caused by overloaded trucks.

The intervention forms part of broader efforts to improve road safety, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure greater accountability in the transport sector.
