HIV, Hepatitis TESTS: Nitiwul Explains Security Service Recruitment Rules

The former Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, says persons living with HIV and Hepatitis are not eligible for recruitment into the security services under existing recruitment protocols.

His comments follow a disclosure by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, to Parliament's Committee on Assurances that about 1,300 applicants recorded reactive results during medical examinations conducted as part of the security services recruitment process.

Speaking at the committee's sitting, Dominic Nitiwul said applicants who test positive, particularly those seeking to join the military, are disqualified under the current protocols and are informed of the outcome.

The issue has sparked discussions around recruitment standards, medical requirements, and the treatment of applicants during security service selection processes.
