Government says it is adopting a more sustainable approach to maintaining hospital equipment nationwide to reduce the high costs associated with frequent replacements.

President John Dramani Mahama, speaking at the commissioning of a new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, expressed concern over the recurring breakdown of critical medical equipment in health facilities across the country.

He said a stronger maintenance culture is needed to ensure medical equipment remains functional, improve healthcare delivery, and reduce unnecessary expenditure on replacements.

The new cardiac laboratory is expected to enhance specialised heart care services and improve access to advanced medical treatment in Ghana.
