FLOOD CLEAN-UP: Government Orders Closure of Shops in Seven Affected Regions

The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has directed all non-essential businesses, shops, markets, and commercial establishments in the seven flood-affected regions to remain closed during a two-day national clean-up exercise.

The exercise, scheduled from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 11, was ordered by President John Dramani Mahama as part of efforts to restore sanitation, improve public health, and support recovery after the recent floods.

Essential and emergency services have been exempted from the directive.

The Ministry is urging residents, institutions, and community groups to participate by clearing debris, desilting drains, and helping restore communities affected by the floods.
