Nigeria banned alcohol sachets. So why are they still everywhere? | DW News
Over six months after Nigeria banned popular small sachets and bottles of alcohol to prevent underaged drinking, DW West Africa Correspondent Azeezat Olaoluwa reports the child-friendly-packaged spirits are still in circulation. To find out why enforcement is so difficult, we speak to Martins Iluyomade, Director of Investigation and Enforcement, at Nigeria's food and drug regulator NAFDAC. For another perspective, Professor Nazarius Tumwesigye, who has headed surveillance system for alcohol and drug use, tells us about how Uganda's ban on alcohol sachets played out.
