FLOOD CLEAN-UP: Government Orders Closure of Shops in 7 Affected Regions

The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has directed all non-essential businesses, shops, markets, and commercial establishments in the seven flood-affected regions to remain closed during a two-day national clean-up exercise.

The directive, which takes effect from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, is to allow residents and institutions to participate fully in the exercise ordered by President John Dramani Mahama.

The clean-up is aimed at restoring sanitation, improving public health, clearing flood debris, and supporting recovery efforts in communities affected by the recent floods.

Essential and emergency services are exempted from the directive, while residents, institutions, and community groups are being encouraged to participate by desilting drains, clearing debris, and helping restore affected areas.
