GH¢400M FOR WOMEN’S BANK: Government Begins Process To Launch New Financial Institution

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson says the Women's Development Bank is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026.

Speaking during Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's visit to the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Forson disclosed that government has deposited a GH¢400 million capitalisation fund with the Bank of Ghana to support the establishment of the institution.

He said the central bank is currently conducting an assessment of the bank ahead of its operationalisation, while processes to appoint the management team and board are also ongoing.

The initiative is expected to improve access to finance and support women-led businesses and entrepreneurship across Ghana.
