The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, says Ghana is expected to experience a tomato glut within the next four months as government implements measures to increase local production and reduce reliance on imports.

Appearing before Parliament's Committee on Assurances, the Minister said interventions being rolled out will boost tomato farming and improve the capacity of local farmers.

He added that government plans to establish an off-take system to purchase tomatoes from farmers, provide market support, and help sustain their operations.

The move forms part of efforts to strengthen food security, support farmers, and reduce Ghana's dependence on imported agricultural produce.
