The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has revealed that the Sewua Government Hospital project is undergoing an audit following the discovery of an overpayment under the contract approved by Parliament.

Appearing before Parliament's Committee on Assurances, the Health Minister said attempts to conduct a joint assessment of the facility with the contractor have been unsuccessful due to unresolved contractual and financial issues between the two parties.

Although the 250-bed hospital was commissioned in January 2025, it remains non-operational due to outstanding challenges, including the lack of connection to essential utility services and unresolved financial obligations.

The Minister assured Parliament that efforts are ongoing to address the issues and ensure the facility becomes fully operational.
